Job Coach

Position Summary:  

The Vocational Job Coach is responsible for supervising, training, modeling duties, and assisting clients with a variety of disabilities at community job sites. 

 

KnowledgeSkillsAbilities: 

For entry into this position the individual must have the following skills:  good communication skills, both written and verbal, must be professional, clear and concise; reading, writing and math skills must be at a secondary level. 

The individual must be creative and innovative in using adaptive equipment and adjusting work sites; must have the ability to monitor community job sites, as well as train and observe clients; must have the ability to learn the reporting system and the data collection process; must have the physical capability to stand for up to three hours.

 

Qualifications: 

Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.  A combination of education/work experience that provides commensurate job knowledge would be considered.  Individual must have a valid driver's license and up to date personal automobile insurance coverage (as defined in the TCRC Personnel Policies).  Individual must meet TCRC's commercial insurer's criteria as an acceptable insured driver.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Responsible for training and assisting clients in learning their specific job responsibilities at job sites and identifying job redesigning, job adaptations, and/or adaptive equipment that may assist the client in becoming independent in their work setting. 
  1. Responsible for demonstrating/modeling job duties (i.e. sweeping, mopping, climbing a step ladder, stocking shelves, vacuuming, dusting, etc.) 
  1. Responsible for developing working relationships with clients, supervisors, and co-workers at community job sites for clients in Supported or Competitive Employment. Also may be responsible for job development duties in Supportive or Competitive Employment Program.  
  1. Responsible for reporting any inappropriate work/behavioral problems to direct supervisor and Director of Employment Services immediately. 
  1. Responsible for supervising the work activities of assigned clients in the DT Program by providing orientation, training, and guidance. 
  1. Responsible for implementing client programming as specified in Individual Service Plans. 
  1. Responsible for data sheets to be filled out on a daily basis. 
  1. Responsible for submitting all chronological reports which are to be completed at a minimum of one per week. 
  1. Attend meetings and training as assigned 
  1. Attend IDT meetings to provide client progress information. 
  1. Responsible for understanding progress of all clients at community job sites, both Supportive and Competitive Employment, by assisting and questioning at departmental meetings in order to create new techniques or methods in working with clients; to have the knowledge of individual client goals and methodology in order to provide job coaching for all Employment Services clients at all job sites. 
  1. Drive as needed in an agency vehicle or own personal vehicle, or transport other employees or recipients of TCRC's services in TCRC vehicle. 
  1. Other duties as assigned that are not inconsistent with skills and abilities.
